Exciting news!

Right, sorry to leave you all hanging last week, but I’ve just nipped into the internet cafe for a quick bit of blogging (and several cups of coffee) before heading off to do some shopping.

The exciting and completely wonderfully awesome news is that my younger sister, L, is pregnant! Yay! I am so thrilled and excited for her to be a mum, and for me to be an aunty :D Even though L’s made me promise not to teach it rude words, I will at least be able to teach it karate and turn it into a lethal fighter by the time it’s five years old ;) This news is actually kind of old – she is due in September – but I just haven’t told anyone beyond my friends over here so thought it was time to share the news with the world. Or at least the very small slice of the world that reads this blog!

L, my other sister A, and I all know the sex of the baby after a scan on Tuesday, but Mum and Dad don’t want to know, so we are all endeavouring to keep it secret from them. Quite how sucessful this will be I don’t know, but as long as it’s not me who says something stupid and gives the game away, I don’t mind! I have to say that I will be amazed if they don’t know by the time of the birth, but we will all do our best. Ganbarimasu!

I keep sending L article on baby-related things, and am worried it will get annoying, but I think we’re on the same wave-length as the last one I sent, about meditation and breathing instead of pain relief, was met with the reply “oh, I just got a book about that from the library!”. Phew! L and I are both hippies ;)
Apart from it being very active, there isn’t much else to report about the baby, but if there are any more exciting developments I will tell you, and also will update when we have decided on a good code name for it so Mum and Dad don’t get wise to the sex!

Oh wow! Congratulations, sister L! This is terribly exciting news, indeed! And September — my, that’s not too far away. :D Will you be returning home to attend the birth?

Yes! At the moment, I’m thinking that I’ll return for good then, but I am not 100% sure. Depends mainly on whether I manage to get my black belt in the summer, which is one of my primary aims of being here!

BTW, do you have a blog? Am curious to find out a bit more about you!

I am not too familiar with karate, but I presume that you must be a brown belt-er now…? How many years have you been learning it?

I do have a blog at LJ but most of my posts are friends-locked and/or private. I have been thinking of turning my blogspot into a photo blog since, wow, last year but I am too lazy, haha. But feel free to ask questions if you are curious!

(in case you are wondering, I stumbled across your blog on Just Bento. I think it was your post on Japanese cheese and school lunches that caught my attention! haha)
